The Head Chef is responsible for preparing and fulfilling our delicious menu items for Stella's Lounge in the evening. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring all food prep is complete, preparing all food orders in a timely fashion, maintaining a safe and clean kitchen, and overlooking food inventory levels and completing shipments.
This job is perfect for you if you have a passion for making food and thrive in a fast paced and small kitchen. You are self sufficient, and good at multi-tasking, collaborating and delegating.
About Stella's Lounge:
Every evening at 4:00pm we shutdown the Jack & Stella café and transform into Stella's Lounge from 5:00pm-9:00pm. We serve delicious pizzas, and pastas sourced from Spaccio, plus other tapas and tidbits. All paired with exclusive Italian wines, Clear Lake Brewery beers, and our own craft cocktails. The vibe is chill, the food is great and the scenery is sublime.
Responsibilities:
- Have thorough knowledge of our food and drink menu items
- Overlook and delegate all daily tasks between yourself and your Sous Chef
- Ensure food prep is completed and organized
- Prepare quality menu items in a timely fashion
- Maintain a clean workspace and uphold health and safety protocols
- Manage food stock and other kitchen supplies - inform management when stock is low
- Process and organize weekly food shipments and restock grocery shelves when needed
- Perform opening and closing procedures as require - a daily cleaning of all surfaces, appliances, dishes, etc.
Requirements:
- Culinary Diploma or equivalent experience considered an asset
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Food Handling certification required
- Ontario Smart Serve certification required
- Must be able to adhere to all Jack & Stella operating policies and programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Flexible and willing to perform many different tasks
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift or move objects up to 25lbs
