Purpose

While adhering to safety and sanitation regulations, perform duties related to the preparation and cooking of food items to include substitutions according to therapeutic diets; portioning and serving food; washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking/work stations.

Job Qualifications

  • Journeyman Trades Certificate
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
  • Institutional food cooking experience required
  • Secondary school or equivalent
  • Food Handlers certificate required
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply written and oral instructions, including product dilutions, menu items, dietary restrictions, M.S.D.S., workloads, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to push carts, and lift safely a minimum of 25 kilograms
  • Ability to adapt to change and set priorities to ensure that work goals are met on a consistent basis
  • Be physically capable to perform related food tasks, (i.e. walking, standing for prolonged periods)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record

Job Description

The cook – class 2 must:
• Participate in the preparation and cooking of food;
• Perform basic preparations for certain dishes;
• Weigh and prepare the ingredients;
• Help set up dishes and plates;
• Distribute supplies and food trays;
• Clean workstations, cabinets and accessories.

The cook – class 2 may be entrusted with other related duties.

Prerequisites

Hold a secondary 5 studies certificate with specialization in professional cooking or an equivalent certificate of studies.

Specification

There are four (4) regular hourly positions in the unionized staff category;

Period of employment: May 28, 2021 to October 17, 2021;
December 26, 2021 to March 26, 2022;

Salary: the salary scale varies from $ 15.43 to $ 18.05 per hour depending on the terms set out in the collective agreement;

The other applicable working conditions are those provided for in the collective agreement in force;

Food and Beverage Service Manager

Culinaria Restaurant & Events is a fine dining establishment inside the old Elliott House. Job Description

The successful candidate would ideally possess prior experience in restaurant operations and understands the everchanging complexities and demands inherent in the food and beverage industry.

  • Establish and champion service excellence for both food and beverage
  • Possess extensive knowledge of food and food handling – including acute understanding of allergies, dietary and religious restrictions; may be responsible for some tableside cooking
  • Oversee the set-up of private dining rooms for upcoming events with proper place settings, table arrangements, AV requirements (as determined with the Host for each event)
